MOSTOW's "T3" RATING: R OR PG-13?
Who will be determining T3's rating?

Ever since "T3" began shooting over 5 months ago, the biggest question
amongst all the Terminator fans here at TheArnoldFans.com has been what
rating will T3 have? Will it remain true to the first two as violent
masterpieces or will it be watered-down and geared more for teenagers?
While on the set of "T3: Rise of the Machines" we got to personally put
Mostow on the spot and ask what film rating he felt the film was destined
for. Now be warned, as we may be headed for a PG-13. Then again maybe an R?
You be the judge.
TAFs: What rating are you shooting for?
Mostow: "Well, the other two movies are R and to some extent,
certainly the core fan base will feel betrayed if we¹re not an R. I have to
think that by virtue of a lot of the content in the movie, it would wind up
being an R..."
YES, you hear that Arnold fans! We are headed for an R! Your prayers have
been answered. All of your polls and messages you sent in have been
acknowledged! But wait, Mostow has more to say!
Mostow:..."but I don't know - I can't say that that's a lock yet
because until the movie's done and you put it all together, it's hard to
say. The interesting thing is since the last movie, Terminator the franchise
has only grown and the character has sort of expanded. What's so fascinating
is its appeal is not just people our age, the 20-40 demographic. I've had
four year olds who come up to me and go, "Are you doing the Terminator
movie?" I go, "How do you even know who Terminator is?" Four year olds know
about it. That just blows my mind."
Now for our older Arnold and Terminator fans, here comes the words that just
plain may make you cry!
Mostow:...It's so ubiquitous that I want to make sure that this is
a film everybody can go see and no one will feel disappointed."
TAFs: Could there be two ratings? Can't WB release a PG-13 and a hard R
to please everyone?
Mostow: "I have a hard time imagining that. It's sort of a pain in
the neck to do it and it¹s confusing. Has it ever been done?"
No, it hasn't been done but I can guarantee Mostow that if he isn't the
first one to start this breakthrough trend of two ratings (or stick with an
R), there will the the biggest mob of angry protesting Arnold/ Terminator
fans. If Mostow REALLY wants to make this movie for the Terminator fans, T3
will be rated R. If he wants to let kids and teens see it, make a Pg-13
version on DVD. Everyone wins!!!!!!!!!
Mostow then went on in attempts to put the film's final rating
responsibility off himself (even though we know he can truly make a
difference).
Mostow: "Again, you can't really predict what the rating board is
going to do. The makeup of the rating board changes every six months or so.
It's like different people come on the ratings board so a movie that might
get a rating one month can't get that rating a different month. I'm
surprised when I go see some movies that are PG-13, I can't believe it. I
can't understand why they¹re not R and vice versa."
Arnold fans have been without a good R movie in years. We had a taste of the
PG-13 "6Th Day" and the questionably-light R rating of "Collateral Damage"
and we are not completely satisfied. We are crying for our old brutal Arnold
to once again return! I can't say this enough Mostow: If you REALLY want to
make this movie for the fans, T3 must be rated R. If you want to let kids
and teens see it, make a Pg-13 version on DVD later. Everyone wins!
One cast member of T3 told us this:
"about the rating of the movie, I'm the wrong person to ask. Might want
to talk to someone who was there for most of the shooting. I was surprised
to hear that she (Kristanna Loken) is going to do nudity. Jonathan is very
conservative. Originally the wardrobe stylist wanted to have me in a bathing
suit, (we're near a pool) and then because Jonathan didn't want to show too
much skin, they decided on something else."
No hard feelings Mostow. You are one of my favorite directors and T3 could
not have found a more suited man for the job. Personally, I find you as
Cameron's equal based on your vision and style. Cameron however knows when
and what movies MUST BE rated R. "Breakdown" is brilliant. It was rated R.
Let "T3" be brilliant as well!
You'll be back for Part 4: The TX and Mostow get busy in the bathroom!
