Schwarzenegger fan Lauri Lesh writes TheARNOLDFANS about her trip to the
Whittier cemetery: shooting location of T3's crypt heist. Unfortunately the
cemetery shoot has wrapped but she was able to at least give us our first
mages of Sarah Connor's crypt in it's original state. Without the facade of
the enriched set design you saw earlier, these photos of the plain original
"crypt" structure gives you an idea of the talent and imagination going into
T3.
Lauri Lesh:
Hi ArnoldFans, I live in Whittier, and I know they are filming some T3
stuff here - at least they were yesterday (Rose Hills Cemetery) and today (Friday, June 7th)
I drove by and saw all the trucks and catering etc...
I don't know where you live - but I've driven through the cemetery on a few
occasions - the older section where they are filming is really peaceful and
pretty - there is not usually anything "current" going on in this section.
All the stones are above ground in this area where as the remainder of rose
hills (which is one of the, if not "the" largest cem's) are the plaque on
the ground type headstones.
I "think" the building they are showing in the pictures (the crypt) is now
just a maint building, but it appears it used to be maybe where the intake
was as there is a circular driveway leading up to it etc....but if it's the
building I think it is, it's not really a crypt. Seeing how I don't feel
like doing the stuff I should be doing, thought maybe I would drive up there
early this am and confirm it's where I thought it was shot.
I thought about stopping where I saw all the trailers and catering stuff
uptown Whittier last night and asking for more info - but chickened out.
On Saturday I went back to the cemetery with my digital camera to see if I
could take any good pictures for TheARNOLDFANS. So I went to the place where
all the trailers, caters etc ...were the evening before and they were all
gone :-( I knew I should have gone back that night.

Anyhow, I printed out all of the images I was able to find on the web that
showed T3 at the Cemetery. I went there and took a bunch of pictures (trying
to take shots from where the T3 ones were taken).

I was able to see that the big headstone they show when Arnold is carrying
out the coffin which was put there by the crew. It's not really there. There
are a few other things that you can see where they had built stuff
(mostly grass was ripped up then replaced and stuff like that. Figured out
that the stainglass window he breaks through is actually something they
built added on to the original structure. It was still neat and fun taking
the pictures, and they will be neat to reference when the movie comes
out....

As you can see on some of the pictures you can see where the grass is all
dead... It had been pulled up for them I assume then planted back in later.
The one patch to the side (left as you face building) is where they
had a fake headstone - the place where I'm betting he comes bursting out of
the window is just behind the tree you see like a little access way -
electrical box on the wall etc. Right in front of that was a big patch of
grass maybe 6x6 where it looks like they had something built (which is
confirmed in the pictures).

It's a neat location - and it is a mausoleum - I was thinking that it was
not. Took pictures through the window, by pressing the
camera against very dirty windows (it's locked) in case they had any
interior shots in the movie.

Found a lot of screws and nails, little pics of wood, evidence of
shrubbery and trees being cut to accommodate what they were doing etc....so
to me it was interesting (plus saw a couple of deer - and tons of
squirrels).

Disappointed I didn't know about this sooner."
