On Tuesday, December 1st, TheArnoldFans was invited to Sacramento's greatest annual celebrity event. Each December, The California Museum celebrates the honorees of The California Hall of Fame, which recognizes legendary Californians who have influenced the state, the nation and the world. On this glorious evening, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and First Lady Maria Shriver inducted 13 remarkable individuals into The California Hall of Fame. TheArnoldFans would have George Lucas, Carol Burnett, John Madden, Danielle Steel and body-building pioneer Joe Weider, among many other legends, all at our mercy for interviews as they paraded in front of my prime spot on the red carpet.

Arnold

Arnold walked over to me with a big "hello" and then went in front of the local news camera to do a quick interview. At this time I was able to grab George Lucas. Unfortunately, during my brief time with the Star Wars creator, Arnold was done with his interview and he could see that I was busy so he moved on.

Lucas

TheArnoldFans: Hi George, It's almost Christmas and I know your not a fan of the Star Wars Holiday Special but have you ever thought about doing an all new one? Maybe start from scratch?

George Lucas: "No, no way." (laughs)

TheArnoldFans: How far along is Indy 5?

George Lucas: "The next Indy film? Yes, we're working on it. It's in development. That's all I can say right now."

TheArnoldFans: FInally, where is Star Wars Celebration 5 going to be held? Do you have a location yet?

George Lucas: "Yes, official announcements will be made very soon."

Update: Star Wars Celebration V will take place August 12-15, 2010, at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida.

Lucas then signed our Star Wars items.

Carol

TheArnoldFans: Hi Carol, Who's your favorite comedian on prime time television these days?

Carol Burnett: Oh man, I don't know. There's like so many. It's like apples and oranges, you know. But I Looooove Tina Fey. She's great.

TheArnoldFans: Do you have a favorite Arnold movie?

Carol Burnett: What's the one where he was twins?

TheArnoldFans: There you go, TWINS!

Carol Burnett: (Laughs) I LOVE that one! I love it, Arnold is very funny.

Carol

I stopped bodybuilding icon Joe Weider and had him sign my weight supplement can with an early Arnold image. Weider could not believe I still had one of these rare 70s products so I suggested that I donate it to the museum to be on display in his section.

Weider

TheArnoldFans: Would Arnold still be the success that he is today without your help?

Joe Weider: Of course, I might have helped him along but Arnold is Arnold and he was always on the path to greatness.

TheArnoldFans: What's your favorite Arnold movie?

Joe Weider: All of them. There are so many good ones. I like the first Terminator a lot! But he does great films, doesn't he?

TheArnoldFans: Let's hope he does many more great films soon.

Joe Weider: RIGHT!

Weider

TheArnoldFans: Maria, will this be your last year to present at the Hall of Fame ceremony?

Maria Shriver: Yes, next year it will be up to the new first lady or Governor, or who knows, maybe it will be a woman? It’s an honor to induct these remarkable individuals who have each made their own unique mark on our world.

Maria

After the red carpet, TheArnoldFans was invited into the awards ceremony. During the hour-long presentation, we watched the 13 inductees receive their awards, give speeches and crack several good jokes.

The evening also marks the opening of the yearlong exhibition, which includes individual exhibits dedicated to each of the 13 inductees. With over 100 items ranging from historical artifacts to entertainment memorabilia, visitors will get a very rare chance to see personal effects of these cultural landmarks together in one setting.

A few of the items of particular note include:
• Star Wars droids R2-D2 and C-3PO and other Lucas film props and screenplays
• Madden’s 1977 Super Bowl trophy and game ball
• Burnett’s Emmy, Golden Globe, People’s Choice and American Comedy awards
• Weider’s historic kettle bell weights
