Last weekend, TAFs very own Brian (TheT1000) had the opportunity to attend one of the largest comic book conventions in the nation: the Chicago Comic Con. The slogan for the event was 'Get Your Geek On' so that's exactly what we did! In attendance were some pretty big names, such as William Shatner and Rod Blagojevich, along with many of Arnold's co-stars. While a full review of the con will be featured in Part 2 of this article, we at TAFs want to give you all a little treat in the form of an interview with someone that we have never talked to before: Bess Motta, the lovable Ginger from Terminator 1. Bess is one of the nicest, most genuine people we have ever come across and it was a great honor to finally meet her. So while you wait eagerly for the full con review, you can read a transcript of our interview with Bess below!

TAFs: In Terminator, where you only pretending to listen to music or were there actually tunes in the cassette player?
Bess: No, there were tunes. I was listening to Prince's 'Dirty Mind'. That's just what I was listening to at the time, in actual life that's what I was listening to, so of course Ginger got to listen to it too. But then they put in whatever is in the movie.
TAFs: What kind of music do you like personally?
Bess: Well, now i like a lot of Bill Evans. I do a lot of aerobic exercise stuff still, a lot of spin classes, so whatever is popular that you can exercise to. I like that and at home I listen more to jazz. I'm a big Stanley Clark fan.

TAFs: Linda told TAFs that she burnt her hair in the make-up room on a crimping iron while filming Terminator. Did you have any bad experiences like that?
Bess: No, but I do remember that I did have to get my hair cut which makes me laugh when I look at the pictures because I always thought 'Oh no, they cut my hair too short!'. I thought they had cut my bangs too short. But I look at it now and it's like no wonder they wanted it cut short, it's like a hair helmet!

TAFs: Thats funny! So what are your three favorite Arnold movies?
Bess: Well, Total Recall, of course, Terminator, of course, and, well, Kindergarten Cop. Its not a tumor!
TAFs: Right! So did you know who Arnold was at the time you started filming?
Bess: Yeah, sure, I knew who Arnold was but of course he wasn't the Arnold that he was after Terminator. I thought that Terminator would be more of a B-movie, like a Conan type of movie. I had no idea that it was going to be so popular. It's pretty amazing!

TAFs: Its definitely kept a large following for all these years! So did you get to keep anything from the movie?
Bess: Well, let's see. I think a lot of the stuff that I wore was mine, so I think the little pink dress was mine, the belt and shoes were mine. Honestly, I bet I let it all go about 10 years after the movie. It's awful, I know! And I keep so much but I just can't recall if I've got any of that stuff left or not.
TAFs: Did you get a cast or crew gift? Because we know they gave away Terminator crew jackets.
Bess: You know, I don't think I ever got a jacket. It's so funny, my part on the movie, even though once a movie is out there it's out there forever, I think I probably didn't work more than 3 or 4 days on it. And it seems to me it was near the beginning of filming so after my part came and went, everybody else carried on. But I think I was there towards the beginning of the shoot when everything was a little more fresh.
TAFs: Well you should call up James Cameron and tell him he owes you a Terminator jacket!
Bess: Yeah yeah yeah, I'll call him right up! Haha!

TAFs: How many takes did it take for you to fall to the ground in the movie?
Bess: Just one. I remember doing one take where the food goes up in the air and it didnt fall quite the way the director wanted it to. So Mr. Cameron set everything up again and then I threw it a second time and I still don't think it's exactly what he wanted. I think what Jim Cameron wanted was when the tray went up, he wanted whatever was on it to kind of get on my face but there was just something impossible about trying to throw milk up into your own face. So I dont think it was ever quite what he wanted it to be.
TAFs: But it was actually you and not a stunt double doing it, right?
Bess: Nope, that was me, definitely.

TAFs: Awesome! Well thank you for taking the time to talk with us. Everyone at TAFs really appreciates it!
