A dedicated and generous Arnold fan just contacted us so we can pass on some interesting new Oak info found in the pages of the new Jan/Feb issue of MuscleMag.

I don't know if you guys have seen this but the current edition of Australian Musclemag advertises an Arnold interview from the set of Collateral Damage. Among other things Arnold talks about upcoming projects saying "As for True Lies 2, I've read the script, its being fine-tuned by James Cameron and another writer, and that is going to be a reality. That movie is definitely going to be made."

He also confirms that his character in CD doesn't pick up a single gun in the movie saying "That's right! Brewer is not a police officer or even familiar with weapons."

The interview is set out on four pages and includes a bunch of pics from CD - two or three of which we haven't seen yet. The little intro tells us that the interview is taken place during a re-shoot for some crucial scenes after Arnold's tour of South Africa earlier this year.

Other comments from Arnold that are note-worthy include:

interviewer: The production (of CD) hit some unusual snags, such as when a truckload of equipment was stolen. Did that interfere with the filming?"

Arnold: That's actually quite common when you're filming in foreign countries; things get lost or stolen. It certainly wasn't an obstacle. It was more like an Awwww Jeez! type of thing. It was to be expected. As a whole the shoot went very smoothly.

interviewer: How did you like working with Andy Davis?

Arnold: I loved it. Did you know I almost did The Running Man with Andy? He was the original director before he got switched for Paul Michael Glaser . Collateral Damage has been a really fantastic experience.

interviewer: your star status allows you to have a lot of say in the creative direction of your movies, but obviously you weren't always a star. Were there times in your earlier movies that you were frustrated by your lack of creative control?

Arnold: No, because in the early movies I didn't know much about film making. I wasn't experienced enough to know if this or that was a mistake; I just did what I was told to do, appreciating that anybody at all was taking the time to give me instruction. It was a learning experience. I got more control over the situation as I gained experience, so when I started making suggestions, they made a lot of sense and helped the movie.

In Collateral Damage for example, I was saying all along that we needed to satisfy not only the older audience with a great story but we also need to keep the Arnold audience happy. After they did the first test screening, they saw I was right. The scores of people older than 25 were very high, better than the scores of the under 25's. The movies been tweaked to
straighten that out and they're now shooting things I've proposed from the beginning.

When asked about other upcoming movies he may (WWAE, Crusade etc.) be doing Arnold replies:

I have to choose what's right for my career (as well as the fans) so sometimes I have to push for things that are not even on the radar. For example, right now I'm prepping a movie to star in, a comedy called Ump, that the fans have probably never heard of (this interview was done a few months ago.

With Crusade however there are other considerations entirely. It doesn't matter how many people want to see the movie; the scenes are very complex and its a very difficult movie to put together. All the studios are afraid of the enormous cost. They're also afraid of the religious implications. With political correctness today, any time a movie has a clash between Catholics, Muslims and Jews that takes place in Jerusalem during the Crusades, its going to be really hard to deal with the religious aspect and not offend people in these religions.

During the other half of the interview Arnold is quizzed about bodybuilding training (it is a bodybuilding mag after all!!!) and among other things tells us that a special edition of Pumping Iron will "be released later."

Thanks to lurking1000 for the scoop!
