The ARNOLD FAN has come across some interesting news on the ever-growing hype on "Terminator 3: The Rise of the Machines"! It seems that Sony's Columbia TriStar Film Distributors Intl. has taken the helm for the movie's distribution in foreign countries.

Variety reports that in exchange for Intermedia's $70 million asking price for international rights, Sony's Columbia TriStar Film Distributors Intl. is understood to be taking nearly all of the $170 million-budgeted T3.

"Put me down as a yes for 'excited' and 'believes it's a great asset to have," said Jeff Blake, who is Columbia's president of worldwide distribution and marketing. He added, "We're definitely going to be (releasing) day-and-date worldwide next year," in an effort to defray marketing costs on the pricey pic."

Meanwhile, Warner Bros. acquired domestic distribution rights to "T3," and said they will release it over the Fourth of July holiday weekend in 2003. Columbia, like Warners, has right of first refusal on the financing of any "T4" follow-up film.

The film will begin lensing in April under the helm of director Jonathan Mostow. Terminator 3 picks up the story a decade after the sequel, when a John Connor, now in his 20's, reteams with his cyborg protector, Arnold Schwarzenegger!, to battle the TX, an advanced-model female terminator.

Thanks to Jacob for the tip!
