Last year, The ARNOLD FAN told you about the petition to get the uncut version of Conan The Destroyer SE released for Region 1. As Conan/Sarah Douglas fan Jacob continues his crusade to bring us the region 1 release, he takes a break NOW with new info about Conan The Destroyer Region 2: Germany, Japan, and France.

First a quick intro:

From one Conan fan to another: I liked the first Conan movie very much. I do like the second Conan movie much more, since actress Sarah Douglas was in Part 2. She has been my favorite since Superman 2. She has played many villains since then. She is very good at playing villainess. Sarah is from England. She has done many movies in England, Conan was her first American film. She was also doing the night time Soap Opera: Falcon Crest. She would travel back and fourth with both Conan The Destroyer and Falcon Crest. When Conan The Destroyer was released in 1984, the studio decided to make the movie a PG Rating. This did not work for the fans and it backfired. Even Arnold didn't like the idea. He was not a Box Office star until he did Terminator. That changed everything.

Sarah did an interview with Starlog and she talked about her favorite scenes that were cut for a PG Rating, including a love scene with Arnold and slapping Wilt Chamberlain. Somewhere locked at Universal is the lost footage for Conan The Destroyer. Will we see this footage, I hope so. I am working on it...please keep your fingers crossed. While waiting for the Region 1 SE, I found out that Region 2 was releasing a SE. Not for just one but 3. This, I hope, will help me get the Region 1 SE released. There is a petition for the uncut version release for the Region 1. I have made some progress in making Universal aware of the idea. That is all I can say about that for now... I am here to talk about the Region 2 releases from Japan, Germany, and France.

Last summer while surfing the net, I found info about an SE for Conan The Destroyer for Region 2. Composer Basil Poledouris. However, I did not know who made the dvd. In late December I found link for a German release from Amazon.de A special edition for Conan The Destroyer featuring A documentary, trailers, and comic info. I read on other sites for more info.. I did find the Official Site from 20th Century Fox that was releasing the SE. I also found info for both a Japan and French version. That was 3 different versions of Conan The Destroyer. These sites are in the original language, and I have translated some of the info onto my site. They all have the same cover with the one and only Arnold on the cover. It seems that many Arnold fans like the cover.



I have found out that all 3 dvds include the same features. They include commentary by Director Richard Fleischer, Actress Olivia D'Abo, and Tracey Walter. They also include Documentary about the comic book character of Conan and of course the interview by Composer Basil. The German release also includes English 5.1 and is enhanced for widescreen. I don't have the menu screenshots at the moment, however you can see a small picture of the main menu from the back cover of the dvd.



About the uncut version? none of the dvd includes the deleted scenes. Hopefully the Region 1 of Conan The Destroyer SE will be the uncut version.

If you have a dvd player, it must be able to play all Regions.. not just region 1. Some computers that play dvd can play other regions. I figure that some Arnold fans ould get the Se as a Collector item and be able to hold them down for an uncut version. You have 3 to choose from. The German DVD is now for sale. Both the Japan and French version will be released next month.
