SCORPION KING CHILLS WITH THE ACTION KING! The Rock admits Arnold's shoes are big! Reported By: Randy Jennings Wednesday, April 10, 2002 WWF's The Rock – aka Dwayne Johnson – has a new big budget fantasy epic approaching fast. "The Scorpion King", prequel to "The Mummy returns", will without a doubt have a very big opening weekend thanks to the success of the Mummy franchise and the wrestler's super-stardom. Although The Rock's role was small in the Mummy he now steps up to his first of many lead roles as action star. The following info comes from DarkHorizons.com reported by PAUL FISCHER: As for those inevitable comparisons with one Arnold Schwarzenegger, The Rock [who still delights in doing his Arnold impersonations], The Rock is flattered but plays down those similarities. “I think the comparisons have been great, and obviously Arnold’s done fantastic. His shoes are a little big, though, to fill, and I kind of prefer just to make my own path and do my own thing, because we’re completely two separate guys.” There is no rivalry between the two superstars, who remain close friends. “We and Sylvester Stallone have been friends now for some time, both of whom have been really supportive of me, which they didn’t have to be, you know what I mean?” Some Arnold fans feel threatened that The Rock may one day push Arnold off the mountain as Hollywood's biggest action hero. Fear not. If the time ever does come Arnold will be 70 years of age and it's only natural that somebody take over eventually. Personally I'd love for someone like The Rock to ONE DAY follow in the footsteps of Arnold. In the real world, Dwayne Johnson is nearly as humble and charismatic as The Oak. Dwayne, like us, is an Arnold fan and bows down to his action hero mentor. If the time ever does come for Arnold to step down (God forbid), let’s hope he passes his crown down to someone like Dwayne (a fan) instead of some macho attitude-dishing snot like Vin Diesel or Russell Crowe. But like I said, Arnold still has many, many years to go on top of his mountain as Hollywood’s toughest action hero. ---------- |
