ALIEN VS. PREDATOR IN PRE-PRODUCTION? AVP Fansite force to shut down! Reported By: René de Jong Friday, April 12, 2002 More Predator news! According to one source, a very cool Alien vs. Predator fansite, Mektek.net, had unfortunately been asked to self terminate due to copyright infringements by 20th Century Fox. What's interesting is that in the letter received from their legal department the studio mentioned that "20th Century Fox are in pre-production of 'Alien VS Predator' The Movie". The terminated website Mektek.net has this to say for their last post: And sadly, we have to close our doors!!!! Ok guys... Received a couriered letter from 20th Century Fox's legal department this morning, and basically I'm being asked to shut down or else.... We all new this was gonna happen, me more than most to be honest, but damn, worth a shot. However, in that letter I was told that 20th Century Fox are in pre-production of Alien VS Predator The Movie and my production would have basically damaged their release, plus, they had this major copyright thing going on...and used words like "infringement" and "unauthorized derivative works" and "infringes" etc, etc, blah, blah, woof, woof!! ---------- |
