When we last heard from screenwriter Matthew J. Virchow, we were informed of 20th Century Fox's decision to terminate his Predator 3 screenplay. This was due to the studio's advance with Alien Vs Predator in substitution of a third solo Predator film.

Now, just a few days later, we have learned Virchow is still writing for a proposed Arnold epic but this time without alien Predators.

Hey Arnoldfans Staff. I just thought I'd update you on a new script idea of mine that I will put into the works soon, which would likely be the ultimate action-drama for the Oak. It is called "Distance", an idea I've had for years, and have finally decided to put down on paper.

DISTANCE is the story of a European mercenary, Anthony Franjeula (who Schwarzenegger would play), who is forced to join the United States anti-terrorist squad in hopes of stopping East-German foes, who are capturing and torturing a band of American civilians and troops. In the midst of this disaster, he forms a bond between the FBI Agent he is partnered with, and also must deal with the fact that he is taking the lives of people grounded in his own country.

It is an emotional saga of drama with tons of action sequences. Luckily, there are no strings attached to this project, so I'm free to go where ever I choose with this one, unlike PREDATOR 3. And- not to get anyone's hopes up, but it is possible, if I work out a deal with Dreamworks Pictures, that I could get STEVEN SPIELBERG to look at the script when it is completed. The SPIELBERG-SCHWARZENEGGER action-drama would be Arnold's biggest and most awaited film since the announcement of TERMINATOR 3 (or King Conan)!

The sand has started to pour Arnoldfans, and hopefully this castle will be completed. (Unlike my previous script avalanche- Predator III) There are no guarantees, but sure enough, this one should be coming along soon.

Thanks for the time, and the notes and letters I've been receiving from you fellow fans. And also, thanks for your support. All of you have really inspired me and encouraged me. I just hope I can deliver.

Sincerely,
Matthew J. Virchow

Keep at it Matt!
