HASTA WMA, HELLO CAA: NEW POJECTS & MOVIES! Arnold signs with CAA to further career! Reported By: The Hollywood Reporter Thrusday, August 7, 2002 Arnold Schwarzenegger, looking to pump up both his movie career and his charity projects, has signed with CAA for representation in all areas, including his various philanthropic and community efforts. Schwarzenegger, whose films have taken in more than $2 billion at the boxoffice worldwide, is in production on "T3: Rise of the Machines," the second "Terminator" sequel, which Warner Bros. Pictures will distribute. "I am incredibly excited to be joining CAA," Schwarzenegger said. "The company has a fantastic team of great strategists who work together, continuously thinking outside of the box to further the brands and careers of their clients. I am very enthusiastic to be working with (partners) Bryan (Lourd) and Richard (Lovett). I have total confidence that CAA will be a great partner for me moving forward." The CAA Foundation, the agency's philanthropic arm, proved a key component in the signing. The agency's foundation will be working closely with Schwarzenegger's Inner-City Games Foundation, which serves more than 250,000 kids nationwide with year-round programming after the school day ends; Arnold's All Stars, a pilot after-school program that will be implemented in middle schools; and the actor's newest effort, the After School Education and Safety Act (Proposition 49), an initiative he sponsored for the November California ballot to create quality after-school programs for every elementary and middle school in California in 2004. "I am pleased to have the support and expertise of CAA not only in motion pictures but also to have their talent and expertise in community affairs, an obvious priority for me," said Schwarzenegger, whose political future has been a subject of ongoing speculation in political and Hollywood circles. The actor spent the past five years at WMA but left last month after a string of high-profile disappointments, including "Collateral Damage," "The 6th Day" and "End of Days." "We are thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Arnold," Lourd said. "He is a tremendous international star." Among the projects Schwarzenegger is developing are a remake of the Michael Crichton sci-fi action-thriller "Westworld" and a new installment of "Conan the Barbarian," both in development at Warners. Schwarzenegger.com reports "Crusade" with Andy Vajna and Mario Kassar is also possibly still in the works. Schwarzenegger will continue to be represented by Jake Bloom and Patrick Knapp of Bloom, Hergott, Diemer and Cook. ---------- |
