A TOUR INSIDE ARNOLD'S “OAK PRODUCTIONS”! TAFs takes the ultimate dream tour! Reported By: Randy Jennings Thrusday, August 29, 2002 As we mentioned earlier, TheArnoldFans was invited inside Arnold's Santa Monica office building, Oak Productions, on July 26, 2002. It was here we discussed the possible reality of bringing the fans the first-ever Arnold fanclub. Obviously, with a fanclub we ALL win. We would give to the fans more than ever before and be granted MORE celebrity interviews, more contests and more Arnold exclusives. Thank you to all who have emailed us your support for the fanclub. Your response has been great in numbers and we are hoping for the best. If you have not yet expressed interest in the official Arnold fanclub, write me now! Let's recap. During our fanclub pitch, we sat at the roundtable and discussed many Arnold stories. Here I met with Arnold's business manager in the office surrounded by Arnold film memorabilia including an Endoskeleton hand, a signed Conan comic poster-print, a Conan B&W art poster made for the film's release (only 100 made), signed footballs, Shaq's giant shoe and a YODA puppet. I don't know why a Yoda puppet, but it was rumored to be a gift from Arnold's good friend Stan Winston. Immediately following a very productive and promising business meeting, I was asked if I would like a tour of Oak Productions. Like a choir boy I almost screamed but kept my cool instead and nonchalantly accepted the invitation. Best of all, I had two attractive ladies as my guides who took me through my new "happiest place on earth." Not really knowing what to expect, I first passed through some small offices and did not know how many more rooms I would enter. The first part of the offices were basic. A few kind secretaries were walking around, but every room had a few Arnold posters proudly on display--maybe mandatory posters? On my tour I passed a few sites and rare artifacts of Arnold's life, including famous original oil paintings and even that "Terminator" slot machine Arnold recently sued over (for using his likeness and voice without permission). This was now Arnold's trophy from his courtroom battle. I walked through hallways and passed the occasional painting and poster until...I walked into Arnold's personal museum! This was his personal office. I stood at the base of his giant oak desk. Dozens of pictures of his wife and children were proudly on display here. In the corner of this room, not too far away from his desk, was a random stack of a dozen swords. His "Conan the Barbarian" sword was here tossed in with the others as if it were just another collected prop. That sword is the "holy grail" to Arnold fans, and his is in a corner. James Cameron's original Terminator painting was on display. This original concept painting, showing Arnold as the Terminator as Cameron envisioned it, was as tall as Arnold himself and greeted guests into a new room. Moving on, I came to a table with many Arnold head sculptures. I must have passed at least eight or more different heads created by different artists in media such as wood, stone and iron. There was also "the Reagan bust" Arnold had commissioned a few months back. A Stan Winston original "End of Days" devil with expanded wings sculpture was on a countertop. Now to my right, I came across Arnold's trophy exhibit. Basically every single trophy and award he has ever won in his life appeared to be standing in front of my very eyes. Some were dainty and made of glass, while others like his Taurus Stunt Awards trophy stood about three feet tall. On the walls were pictures of Arnold's biggest celebrity encounters including many presidents, the pope and Nelson Mandela. ![]() Just after passing four life-sized Arnold movie characters including the T-800, Endoskeleton, Predator and Mr. Freeze, I finally I came to the grand finale: Arnold's Play Room. Here is where Arnold takes his closest friends to shoot pool and have a few stogies. Above the pool table was a large "True Lies" jet prop. Underneath it was the alligator he shot in "Eraser." Behind the pool table on the back wall was a GIANT Crusade tapestry. This HUGE work of art surely reminds Arnold daily of his goal to star in this must-be epic!
In the very back room I was next shown The Austrian Room. This was a little
room Arnold visits when he gets homesick. It was built by Austrian hands and
made to be an exact hometown room replica.![]() Oak Productions was a memory I will always treasure. Every time I close my eyes, I am back again. It's a shame we can't pay admission to this Arnold fun-land. I hope to go back soon and next time hang with Arnold while smoking our stogies, shooting pool and discussing Crusade. It could happen...but that was another story. ---------- |
