"T3: Rise of the machines" is filming on the streets of LA again and our
loyal T3 informist, Lauri, gave us more detailed files on the set. Together
with her friend, Rick Archer, Lauri (who also took some interior pictures at
the cemetery) went down to the Downey film set and took many pics of the set
they are building.
Lauri:
"Hi remember me? Together with a friend I drove down to the Downey
film set (former Rockwell plant) and it was a lot further along then when I
went down there a few weeks ago. There is this one building that has a glass
front, kinda like a car dealership or something like that, but they have all
kinds of banners and flags hanging from the building. If you asked me to
guess - I would guess they are going to run a car right into the building -
this big window thing they have done up is just crying for a car to come
crashing through it!
They were actively still working on the set. There were some guys hanging a
glass door on one of the buildings (it's next to a large building that I
think is pool supplies or something) it's very cool - they have street
signs, bus stops, trash cans, just like if you were driving down a street in
any city. There was a pallet full of coke a cola signs - the big rectangular
ones so they must be gonna need a lot for different takes of something. You
can't see in really well because the whole thing is surrounded with a green
heavy duty mesh (to keep people like me from looking in I guess).
There is this big cylinder thing outside the gate - something to do with the
power company I'm guessing - so here I am wearing a dress, rush hour traffic
driving by - and I decide I need to get up on this so I can see better :) -
I hop up and right on the other side of the fence is a security guard
sitting in a chair in the shade - it's like - Oh hello - so then I just put
on my sweetest persona ;) and asked him all kinds of questions. Asked if
there was any chance in hell we would be able to come in and look around -
and he said - no, that the fire department won't allow it for safety reasons
- and they are not insured for that. Anyhow - he said that shooting is
scheduled there in about two weeks. I asked him what would be the best time
to show up to something like that if he were me - and he went into his
security guard spiel about how the public is not allowed around the sets and
stuff... blah blah blah - so I said - well ok - if I just happened to be
down at Santa Fe and 15th, strolling down the street, what would be a good
time to go there - he smiled and said - probably around 7 am if I happened
to be in the neighborhood.
I asked him if he was at the Whittier Rose Hills shoot site. He indicated he
was and mentioned that someone took pictures and posted them on the
internet. He seemed kinda put out that that had happened under his watch.
Hope I'm not boring you... anyhow - I would not have been able to go
downtown LA this morning, so we decided to just drive down and see what we
could see... the area is way stereo typical of an industrial trashy junk
yard type area - if I was a location scout and needed a terminator site - I
would have chosen this street.
A special thanks to Lauri and Rick for the article and pictures!
