ONE ARNOLD FAN'S RANT AND HIS "RANK"! Arnold fan Matt lets off some steam! Reported By: Ulf Kristensson Sunday, September 1, 2002 Arnold fan Matt Virchow reports to TheArnoldFans on RANK- HOLLYWOOD'S TOUGHEST STARS. Matt: If you didn't catch the afternoon special "RANK- HOLLYWOOD'S TOUGHEST STARS" on Friday, August 29th, then you missed Arnold Schwarzenegger being awarded the number 9 spot out of the top 25, and being recognized for having one of the top 5 best one-liners in action-hero history according to E! Online users, which is none other than "I'll be back." Tim Allen and others commented on Arnold being one of Hollywood's number-one action stars. Sadly and strangely Arnold was beaten by Will Smith who took the "8th" spot, just because Smith was "Ali" last year and because he shoots alien bugs in "Men in Black"- please... Arnold could waste Will Smith. Schwarzenegger's good pal Bruce Willis was awarded the number "2" spot and number "1" was an underachieved pick snatched by Russell Crowe whose only achievement as an action star was his Oscar winning role as General, Maximus in "Gladiator." Though I respect Russ as a very dignified actor, he definitely didn't deserve the number one spot for only having one action-hero credit under his belt. E! kept bragging that Crowe fought tigers and other big guys with swords and chains... hell- Arnold's fought terminators, predators, terrorists, clones, Batman, and even Satan for that matter! Though, it was neat to see Arnold get ahead of Denzel Washington, Harrison Ford and many other big Hollywood names. s Newcomers, Vin Diesel who made rock-bottom #25 took a piece of the pie, as well did "The Scorpion King", The Rock, also a good friend and admirer of Arnold's. Surprisingly, big fighters like Alien-mutilator Sigourney Weaver, Rambo/Rocky superstar Sylvester Stallone, and Lethal Weapon/Braveheart's Mel Gibson didn't make the cut... but Sarah Michelle Gellar (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Zhang Ziyi, and the that Alias star did take slices of the cake. Gellar and the Alias heroine beat Arnold in the top ten which is the biggest load of crap I ever heard. Speaking from THE RUNNING MAN, Arnold "could break their necks like a chicken's." But hey, who said Hollywood was that intelligent? Also in the top ten was Sopranos star, James Gandolfini, yes the same actor who was taken down by Robert Redford in the prison film "The Last Castle", and the same actor who made the unforgettable (laughable) performance as the homosexual hit-man in "The Mexican". Just because he's got a dark face in "The Sopranos" doesn't mean he deserves to be recognized as a tough action star. Wesley Snipes also beat Arnold for his "Blade" movies, which are very cool films, but we all know that if Blade was thrown in the ring with "The Terminator", there'd be no vampire humans left. Also not getting any spots on the list, martial artists like Chow-Yun Fat, Steven Seagal, Jean Claude-Van Damme, and Jet Li were beaten out by Jackie Chan who took the number 3 spot on the list... but we all know who is really "The Terminator", and it isn't Russell Crowe folks, it's the man E! called "so bad-ass, he only needs one name...Ah-nuld." Matt Thanks for your thoughts Matt. We all know what Arnold's RANK will be after T3!
