TAFs INTERVIEWS WINSTON & FAN's CON REPORT! Stan Winston chats with TAFs at premiere! Reported By: Randy Jennings Saturday, August 2, 2003 I caught up with Stan Winston, creator of cinema's best creatures, at a recent "Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines" premiere and asked "the man" about his accomplishments and his friendship with Arnold. Click HERE to view the clip now! Stan recently returned from the San Diego Comic Con. Last year our special agent, DirtyBird, brought you his report and now we just learned DirtyBird's 2002 report (now found at Stan Winston's official site StanwinstonCreatures.com), has lead Keith McFalls to us to give a new 2003 Winston report! Keith McFalls: Hey there TAFs, I just happened to link from winstoncreatures and noticed your article about Stan and San Diego. The 4:00 appearance in Room 6B was my number one activity, so I took some pictures. Thought you might like them since I read you missed catching the show. I didn't make it there Saturday but I did go Sunday and bought Mr. Winston's litho (#3/100) TRAKK (Present day). It's being framed right now.
Begins with a digital montage of the make-up and creature creations of Stan Winston, and man are there allot of them.(Terminator, Alien Queen, Predator, Edward Scirrorhands, Batman Returns, Small Soldiers, Mouse Hunt, that Fat Bastard, Jurassic Parks, A.I.(Artificial Intelligence) The Wiz, The Thing, Monster Squad, Interview With The Vampire, The Lost World Galaxy Quest, Alien Nation, The Island Of Dr.Moreau, Lake Placid, Congo, End Of Days, Pumpkinhead, Jeff Goldblum, etc.etc.etc....) As Stan explains, all of these characters he has given birth to or actualized are like his children. Well...his water just broke and spawned a brand new unholy brood of lovingly murderous off-spring. We are introduced, by the proud father to TRAKK and REALM OF THE CLAW. There was an open question & answer forum with many addressed to the new comic book line and action figures (most of this information can be found at his website, rather than have me try to explain it all) But there were inquiries about Fox's project concerning the `Alien vs. Predator` movie. He explained that neither were his license and he had not been asked to work on it. Mr. Winston asked with a show of hands; how many saw the movie Wrong Turn... about five, he produced it. (My wife saw the film and liked it (she sees every film that plays) **Randy Jennings of TAFs saw it too and LOVED IT! I headed down to the Exhibit Floor where I purchased a copy of Realm Of The Claw. The folks at the exhibit told me Mr. Winston would be there to sign on Saturday, at 11:00 and then again at 5:00... I buy the TRAKK Paperback, which he signs for me. Mr.Winston made sure that everyone there receive a poster print of the comic characters, which he in turn signed for each person. What a nice guy! Thanks Keith!
