ARNOLD JOURNEYS TO DUBLIN IN JUNE? Arnold's crusade for the Special Olympics! Reported By: Ulf Kristensson Thursday, March 13, 2003 Conor Brosnahan writes TheArnoldFans to inform other Dublin fans of a possible Schwarzenegger visit. Hi TheArnoldFans, I'm a huge Arnold fan and my fave film is T2 ever since I was a kid. There was a headline in my local paper yesterday about Arnold coming to visit Ireland with the Austrian Bodybuilding team from the 16th to the 20th of June. Arnold Schwarzenegger is said to visit Limerick later this summer and will host the Austrian Special Olympics team from June 16 to 20. Arnold, who is president of the Austrian Special Olympics Group, is rumored to be accompanying the team to Ireland for the games. The Austrian team will spend four days at UL preparing for the 2003 Special Olympics World Summer Games, which take place in Dublin from June 20 to 29. Schwarzenegger is also son-in-law to founder of the Special Olympics, Eunice Kennedy Shriver and has been an ambassador for the Special Olympics over the years. Chairman of the Special Olympics local host committee, Paul O'Connor, commented: "The Austrian team will stay in Dromroe Village for four days prior to the games. There is a strong possibility Arnold Schwarzenegger will come to Limerick as he is the president of the Austrian Special Olympics Group, but we don't know anything yet. We won't know the names of the Austrian team until May and we haven't been told whether he is due to travel with them or not. I'd imagine if he was coming with the team that he would do as he has in the past and keep it very quiet. We are just delighted to be able to welcome the Austrian team to Limerick so they can train before the competition," said Mr.O'Connor. ---------- |
