Just days after his Christmas tree lighting ceremony, action hero Govinator Arnold Schwarzenegger participated Thursday
in the menorah lighting on the Capitol steps.
Joined by Jewish leaders from across the state, Hollywood stars Adam Sandler, Jon Voight and Ivan Reitman, as well as
several hundred onlookers, the governor called Chanukah a "holiday of hope" and called on Californians to "rededicate
ourselves to our friends and to our families."
The ceremony was the 11th menorah lighting at the Capitol, sponsored by the Chabad of California. The governor lit the
center light of the menorah, a symbol of freedom. Schwarzenegger also took part in ceremonial songs and the tradition
of gift giving.
