Will this Arnold bike ride ever end? We have more details on Arnold's bike crash. It was just reported that Schwarzenegger was riding this bike without a bike license. Could this be true? Well, as Obi Wan would say, only from a certain point of view!

California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger was driving without a proper motorcycle license when he crashed his Harley Davidson this weekend.

"He does have a driver's license, but that license is not specified for a motorcycle. It is not an M-endorsed driver's license," Los Angeles Police Department officer Sara Faden said Tuesday. "It's an infraction. In technical terms, it's illegal."

But the state's Division of Motor Vehicles, citing a different portion of California vehicle code, said the former action hero was in the clear because drivers can operate a three-wheeled motorcycle without a special license.

Schwarzenegger's son was riding in a sidecar.

"According to the DMV, the governor obeyed the law," spokesman Mike Miller said.

No one has been charged, Faden said. The license matter has been referred to the City Attorney's office for resolution.

A spokeswoman for the governor said he would be updating his permit regardless.

"It doesn't matter about LAPD's change in interpretation," said Schwarzenegger spokeswoman, Margita Thompson, "because the governor said he needs to get the proper certification."

Schwarzenegger has laid the blame on the car driver.

"We were going 20 mph (32 kilometers an hour) up the canyon and the woman drove out, stopped, looked to the left, saw me -- looked me right in the eye -- and looked to the right and then drove out anyway," he said Monday.

"It was just too short of a distance for me to put the brakes on."
