With the enormous success of PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: THE CURSE OF THE BLACK PEARL grossing 305 million domestic, 348 million foreign and 653 million worldwide July 9th, 2003 and the continued mega success of it's sequel PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: DEAD MAN'S CHEST opening with a monster size 132 million for it's first weekend --and on it's way to even bigger success than the first movie-- maybe it's time producers such as Jerry Bruckheimer, Brian Grazer or Joel Silver greenlight the big budget pirate adventure movie CAPTAIN BLOOD.

Schwarzenegger was once attached to star as the legendary pirate in the late 90's but the film never got off the ground thanks to the expensive 92 million dollar FLOP Cutthroat Island. The question is, would Arnie ever consider doing the film again? Maybe or maybe not, but Arnold attended the premiere of DEAD MAN'S CHEST at Disney Land and while watching the film, CAPTAIN BLOOD could have popped back in his mind, this is all speculation of course.

If Schwarzenegger was to consider making this pirate epic once he is out of office, it would be a remake of Errol Flynn's original 1935 film. In that film, Dr. Peter Blood (Flynn), a British surgeon, is arrested and wrongly condemned to slavery in the Caribbean for helping a rebel soldier in England, 1685. After spending some time as a slave, he plans an escape now seeking vengeance, steals a ship and becomes a pirate who effectively steals from the rich and gives to the poor.

Flynn's Captain Blood was the quintessential swashbuckler. It would be fun to watch Arnie as a pirate being wrongly sentenced to deportation and slavery to the Caribbean. Like Johnny Depp's PIRATE films, audience would want to see the oak having fun with the role while still playing the tough bad ass slicing and dicing his way through pirates and other sea foes.

Arnold still has many more epic action films left in him once he turns 60 in July summer 2007! The Austrian Oak has always wanted to make a WWII epic (WITH WINGS AS EAGLES), a knight epic (CRUSADE), an action packed western (THE IRON HORSEMAN), and a pirate action/adventure (CAPTAIN BLOOD).

We've seen Arnie play a cyborg from the future in the TERMINATOR films, a military leader in PREDATOR, a secret agent from Mars in TOTAL RECALL, a savvy spy in TRUE LIES, a U.S. Marshall in ERASER etc...but we've never seen him play a swash buckling adventurer!
