Cameron Bringing Back Linda Hamilton & Schwarzenegger for T6!

As suspected, there was FANTASTIC news that came from James Cameron and Tim Miller during their pre-T2 screening chat in LA. As we knew before, Tim Miller ("Deadpool") is planning to direct the new Terminator film, which will largely ignore the non-James Cameron directed sequels and be more of a direct sequel to T2. First and foremost, there's the news that not only is Arnold in for T6 (for lack of a real title at this time), but they are finally bringing back the REAL Sarah Connor, Linda Hamilton! Though she was killed off in T3, heard on tapes in T4, and played by Emilia Clarke in T5 and Lena Heady in "The Sarah Connor Chronicles," the time has come to bring back the original waitress-turned-badass from T1 & T2.

Cameron had great reasoning for bringing back Linda: "As meaningful as she was to gender and action stars everywhere back then, it’s going to make a huge statement to have that seasoned warrior that she’s become return." He also made an observation about aging male action stars still starring in lots of movies (as Arnold himself has) but not so many women. "There are 50-year-old, 60-year-old guys out there killing bad guys, but there isn’t an example of that for women.”

At this early stage, Cameron of course didn't reveal much about the story, but did mention the team of impressive writers who are working on it: David Goyer ("Blade" and Christopher Nolan's "Batman" films), Charles Eglee ("Dark Angel"), Josh Friedman ("The Sarah Connor Chronicles"), and Justin Rhodes. They recently had a writers' room session to hammer out the ideas for what could be a new trilogy.

The last detail mentioned by Cameron was wanting to cast a younger actress to star alongside the returning cast members.

"We’re starting a search for an 18-something woman to be the new centerpiece of the new story," Cameron said. "We still fold time. We will have characters from the future and the present. There will be mostly new characters, but we'll have Arnold and Linda’s characters to anchor it."

We think this is all great news and it's a good sign that Cameron is being really involved to get the right people taking the helm of his baby. He seems really engaged in all things Terminator with the re-release of T2 this year (and even since helping to promote Terminator Genisys 2 years ago), so he's likely doing as much as he can before he has to go off and direct his 4 Avatar films. Now, of course, begins the long wait until this new Terminator movie is shot and released. Don't worry, we'll follow along every step of the way!
