Arnold Gives Turkeys and Gives Thanks to Families in Need
TAFs StaffIn 1968, the greatest bodybuilder ever arrived to California from Austria only two days before Thanksgiving. On the festive holiday, Arnold was taken in by new bodybuilders friends, which he had just met, to celebrate his first ever Thanksgiving meal. This was also his first time he’d see the power of giving back.
Thirty-five years ago, Danny Hernandez of the Hollenbeck Youth Center asked Arnold if he would consider sponsoring food and turkeys to give out to less fortunate inner-city families. Arnold, remembering his first thanksgiving memories of sharing and generosity, immediately agreed. Now, every year, Arnold helps hand out full turkeys to a long line of people in need . if you pay it forward…in our hearts, you’ll always be back!
